Minister Suharso Calls Property Industry as Locomotive for Economic Recovery

Jakarta – Detakpos.com – Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa became one of the speakers in the Ngobrol@Tempo program, Wednesday (18/8/2021).

In a talk with the theme “Indonesia Grows with Sustainable Infrastructure Development”, Minister Suharso was asked about the continuation of IKN planning.

“The plan has been completed, you can ask the Minister of PUPR, also in terms of land delineation has also been completed at the Ministry of ATR, we are calculating well, we are thinking like this if we can handle the pandemic well, we need what is called a new playground which can boost production, and that means boosting economic growth,” said the Minister.

The minister also said that the property industry has proven to be able to become a play mover or locomotive for economic recovery in a country.

“We can see that everywhere, for example, Joe Biden has also mobilized by asking Congress to pass 1 trillion dollars for the provision of housing and also for infrastructure. He provides as many job opportunities as possible,” he said.

“We are calculating this well, is there still a possibility for that, if we can, for example, make the IKN candidate area a closed area during construction, and we contain it in such a way that it does not become a potential cluster of covid transmission and we prove we can building, we can provide jobs without infection,” continued the Minister.

The Minister also explained that the government does not look at the development of IKN itself, but brings another economic boost to Kalimantan and Eastern Indonesia which is currently providing quite good economic growth.

“We also want to prove that Indonesia-centric development does not mean only on the island of Java,” he concluded.
